Railway Track System Slabs
Our production plants include also the production of prestressed reinforced concrete slabs for ballast-less railway track systems.
We produce prestressed reinforced concrete slabs, which lay on a base foundation and constitute the main element on its ballast-less system.
Arianna® track system
WEGH Group manufactures a ballast-less system consisting of precast prestressed concrete slabs called Arianna® Slab Track System. The first of its kind in Europe, it is successfully used both on major international lines such as the Pontebbana and on high-speed lines.
The system provides many benefits: it is driveable, ensure lower maintenance costs and, by eliminating the thickness of the ballast, allows the rail deck to be lowered, which create a useful opportunity for boundary gauge adjustments and electrifications. In addition, slabs can be specifically designed for special installations, and are also available for tramway and metro lines.
Milan Massive Track System
The massive system employs heavy weight prestressed concrete elements and consists of sleepers embedded in a special prestressed concrete slab suitable for their housing. It is an ideal system for those sections of line where vibrations have to be reduced, and it has the qualities of track systems which adopt prefabricated elements (high quality, durability, geometric stability over time, reduced laying time).
