(Fornovo di Taro January 10, 2017) WEGH Group Spa, an Italian company that has been active for over 50 years in the railway sector at the international level, consolidates its presence in the Asian market with the supply of first important order of shunting boxes for level crossings for the Railways of the People’s Republic of Vietnam. The 150 model PL TD96/2 shunting cars were chosen and approved after a period of experimentation carried out by Vietnamese Railways engineers who tested various similar products from other international companies. WEGH shunting boxes were also preferred for their absolute operational reliability, which made them adopted also by the Italian State Railways Group. Since 2005, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and various regional rail networks in Italy have installed more than 10,000 of them throughout the peninsula. In Vietnam, the TD96/2 boxes supplied by WEGH will be used to protect the main road crossings along the country’s most important railway line, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City as part of a vast plan to upgrade and modernize the railway service. WEGH with its own technicians has followed the approval phase, provided technical assistance for installations and trained the staff who will manage the plants.
